रक्तात ग्लुकोजची मात्रा वाढल्याने रक्तात उपस्थित घटकांचं संतुलन बिघडतं. जसं कि रक्तात पांढऱ्या रक्त पेशी (WBC) आणि लाल रक्त पेशी (RBC) असतात. यांच्यासोबतच प्लाझ्मा सुद्धा असतो. ऑक्सिजन सुद्धा रक्त प्रवाहासोबत शरीरात प्रवाहित होत असतं. पण जेव्हा रक्तात ग्लुकोजचा स्तर वाढत जातो तेव्हा लाल रक्त पेशी ज्या जखमेला लवकर भरण्याचं काम करतात. त्या ग्लुकोजची मात्रा वाढल्याने आपलं काम नीट पार पडू शकत नाहीत. पांढऱ्या पेशी ज्या आपल्या शरीराला रोगप्रतिकार शक्ती प्रदान करतात त्यांचा प्रभाव सुद्धा अतिग्लुकोजमुळे कमी होतो. यामुळे मधुमेहासोबत इतरही आजार आणि व्याधी शरीराभोवती विळखा घालू लागतात.
